McLaren 675LT CS

What to say and how do you top this in terms of excitement. OMG!! Today we finalised the deal with McLaren Glasgow to buy their 675LT ClubSport. As you may know the 675LT is a limited edition car and only 500 units have been made. The ClubSport version is rarer still and perfectly set up for the track.

We came up-to Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and put down a deposit on the car but it was subject to a drive and which I did not expect to be an issue. But I think when you are spending this amount of money you want to know the car’s absolutely incredible. Drove the 675LT CS and it was absolutely incredible even though we did not get the chance to rev it, it has only done 137 miles. I know the engines are bench tested these days and taken up to high revs, but they are not subjected to high revs for a prolonged period. My opinion is therefore care should be shown in the first 1000 kilometres. (600Miles).

Obviously I now can’t wait for the car to arrive home and I am very much looking forward to putting the 458 Speciale and the 675 side by side to be able to give you a full comparison. Not sure whether we shall keep the Speciale but right now I am loath to let it go, I absolutely adore this car. Clearly it’s not as fast as the 675LT which is lighter and more powerful, 675hp playing 600hp, but although the McLaren has a wonderful note coming from the engine it is not as sonorous as a Speciale’s especially in the upper rev range.

Of course these are a different generation of car, the mantle having been taken up by the 488 on Ferrari’s side. And the 650S replacement is due for delivery in early 2018, so we have been told. Not had the chance to try the 675 at speed yet but I have been told that this car is Hyper-Car fast and I understand even a 918 Spyder would struggle to put clear air between it and the 675LT CS on any given track. We shall see!

The ClubSport Professional Package, CS, adds the titanium roll cage, in itself a thing of beauty, a full race harness and the provision of a fire extinguisher. More of this later but this helps to make it a very rare car.

Many thanks to McLaren Glasgow for their hospitality, courtesy and good humour and in particular Craig and Anita who looked after us incredibly well on our first trip. Craig in particular is a young star of the future and whose in-depth knowledge helped to convince me that this was the car for us!

I thought that you might be interested in the specification.
